RACEMI, the winning project of the Wine Wise Award 2025, is a series of sculptures designed to fit into a limited area of the vineyard near the Bellaria company in Roccabascerana, Avellino.
In botany, a raceme is an inflorescence characterized by a main axis from which stem peduncles that support the flowers. It is conceived not only in relation to the raceme of the grape bunch but also to the architecture of the row itself, understood as a scaffolding and support for the vine.
These five sculptures draw and reshape the schematization of the organic evolution of five different types of inflorescences.
Screwed into the ground, porous, hollow, almost two-dimensional, permeable to the landscape, they are immersed in the environment with the same intensity with which they penetrate it, all directed at their maximum expansion toward the company.
These forms look to the plants for their singular spatial quality: they have more surface area than volume.
In this particular circumstance, it was the custom of placing roses at the head of the rows that sparked a series of reflections and metaphors on the possibility of thinking some sculptures as receptors, antennas, sentinels, visual signals.
The fact that a rose, a flower, becomes a paradigm for monitoring environmental quality and the health of the context implies a series of values inextricably linked to the relationships inherent in biodiversity.
